1905 – Established under our former name as “The Glyco Metal Company”. Initially developing and marketing the Glyco range of anti-friction white metals worldwide. Subsequently progressing to the manufacture and repair of plain and white metal lined bearings.
1983 – Company name changed to Coleherne Ltd. and relocated to our current location.
1983 – Entered into a sole UK and North European agreement with our partners Kingsbury Inc. – World leaders in fluid film bearing design and manufacture. Offering a comprehensive range of tilting pad thrust and journal bearing assemblies.
1989 – BSI accreditation, currently BS EN ISO 9001:2008
1991 – Additional business expansion and investment into Laser cutting. Providing a precision CNC subcontract Laser cutting service to diverse industry sectors.
1994 – First company in Tameside to introduce “Modern Apprenticeship”
1995 – Introduction of KingCole non-equalizing thrust bearing. Joint manufacturing between Kingsbury and Coleherne.
1997 – “Product of the Year Award” MIAA (Manufacturing Industry Achievement Award).
1999 – Top Business Award for Manufacturing Director.
2004 – Investment in 4kW and 5kW Laser technology.
2005 – Representation for Kingsbury extends to Eastern Europe.
2008 – ClydeUnion “Proudly Awards Coleherne Best Supplier”.
2009 – £700k investment in CNC machines: Doosan and 5kW Trumpf. ClydeUnion “Proudly Awards core supplier status to Coleherne”.
2010 – ClydeUnion “Proudly Awards core supplier status Coleherne”.
2012 – Further £600k investment in CNC machines. Award for “Best improving supplier” received from BRUSH SEM Plzen, Czech Republic.
2013 – £300k investment in bearing and white metal centrifugal machines.
2014 – 20th year of “Modern Apprenticeship”. Coleherne’s Bearing performance program for plain journal bearings in co-operation with Loughborough University.
Coleherne bearings are used by companies throughout the UK and Europe and we are an approved supplier to private and public sectors of the engineering industry.
Our range of bearings is continuously changing to cover larger and more sophisticated technical products demanded by advanced technology.
This means that we can supply small bearings for compressors to large thrust and journal bearings for power generating equipment.
